Adobe Flash Webcasting on the iPad

MediaPlatform, the enterprise video software company, in Sept, 2011 announced that its WebCaster software is the first to deliver live webcasts on the Apple iPad® using HTTP live streaming (HLS).

The WebCaster software allows iPad users to view and interact with live presentations that integrate video streaming from Adobe Flash Media Enterprise Server 4.5 and PowerPoint slides. The company now provides webcasting to many different tablets since it started offering webcasting to Android devices earlier this year.

"Getting Flash video on to the iPad is an absolute 'must have' for so many of our large enterprise clients," says Andrew Irving, director of Webcasting at Mediaco, a Canadian event production company. "The MediaPlatform iPad solution is an important innovation that fits with our mobile webcasting vision."

According to a recent study from Interactive Media Strategies, 51 percent of corporate users would view business video more frequently if they had access to it on a tablet.

Successful launch of Samsung Tabs in India

How webcasting my wedding saved me?

I was to get married in a small church and so I could not call all my friends to my wedding. I had only about 100 invites and more than 300 guests to invite. I was stressed out completely. I wanted all my friends to be a part of my most special day. And all my friends are dear to me and so I wanted all of them to attend it.

I am currently pursuing MBA from one of the premiere MBA institute in Delhi, India by way of distance learning. The institute has learning centres across each state in India and these centres have weekend classes to help students with their courses and difficulties. The classes are very useful if attended sincerely.

A few months back I had to move out of India because of my job. And as a result I was deprived of these weekend classes and any guidance. I knew I would be able to manage theory subjects on my own. The subject I was most worried about was Operation Research. And to my horror, when I opened the book all my fears turned real. I was not able to understand a thing. A few days back I got a call from my friend here in Malaysia. She was upset. Just one day before my best friend was to get married in Delhi, I had to go to Mumbai urgently for a business conference. My boss was very adamant that I go for it and so I had no choice but to go.

But I had made my arrangements well. I had booked myself a 5:00 pm flight back to Delhi (on the day of the wedding), so that I have enough time to get ready and be on my friend’s side by the time he sat on his ‘ghori’ (the horse). 

But as it happens, my work prolonged and I had to postpone my flight. I had just one option with me if I wanted to attend my friend’s wedding. My cousin from America was to get married in Ludhiana, Punjab (India) last year.
